Editing Services

Copyediting:

Once you have finished your manuscript, I will comb through it for spelling and grammatical errors, revisions to make sentences more readable or to eliminate redundancy, and I may suggest creative changes if I feel a point is not being communicating effectively.

*All edits will be made using Microsoft Word. Unless otherwise specified by the client, the Chicago Manual of Style will be the standard and insertions/deletions/formatting changes will be tracked. The client will receive two documents: a "clean" copy of the manuscript with all edits accepted, and a copy showing all of the edits. A style sheet can be provided.

*I do run the manuscript through programs at the very end to check for any missed errors, but I do not rely on AI.

Fee: $10 per every 1,000 words

Proofreading:

I will perform a final check for grammatical, spelling, punctuation errors, additional spaces, and citation mistakes.

*All edits will be made using Microsoft Word (or Adobe Acrobat if asked). Unless otherwise specified by the client, the Chicago Manual of Style will be the standard. The client will receive the manuscript back showing all edits tracked.

* I do run the manuscript through programs at the very end to check for any missed errors, but I do not rely on AI. No creative suggestions are made.

Fee: $9 per every 1,000 words

Guidelines:

So that I can be effective with my time, please send the manuscript as a Microsoft Word document in its entirety one time.

*What I will not accept:

Although I will proofread any genre, I do not copy edit academic works or technical manuals (but I can refer you to someone who does!), cookbooks, erotica, poetry, video game, comics, or film scripts. If a work is historical, whether fiction or non-fiction, it must already be fact-checked for accuracy. Please ensure all Bible verses have the correct chapter, verse and translation cited.

*I understand that sometimes sexuality and violence are part of a story, but I believe that our words can have a serious impact on the reader and will not take part in anything with strong themes of gore or brutality that appears to support or glamorize such acts.

I reserve the right to refuse a manuscript that discriminates against anyone on the basis of their race/religion/politics/gender/orientation/or disability.
